A short, practical packing list for a weekend in the hills, sorted by season, so you carry less and enjoy more.
Hill weather changes faster than city weather. A few smart choices in your bag make the trip far more comfortable.
The essentials, any season
- A light jacket or shawl for evenings
- Comfortable walking shoes with good grip
- Sunscreen and sunglasses (the sun is stronger at altitude)
- A reusable water bottle
- Basic medicines, including something for motion sickness on winding roads
- A power bank for long drives
Summer (April to June)
Cotton clothes for the day, one warm layer for the night. Carry a cap for walks.
Monsoon (July to September)
This is when the hills are greenest, as you can see in the photo above. Pack a compact umbrella, quick-dry clothes, and sandals or waterproof shoes. Keep electronics in a zip bag.
Winter (November to February)
Layers are your friend: thermals, a sweater and a proper jacket. Woollen socks and a cap make early mornings on the balcony far more pleasant.
What you can leave at home
You do not need to carry towels or a kettle. Every room has fresh towels and linen. Our Family Suites have their own fully equipped kitchen, and groups can use the dedicated group kitchen.
If you are unsure about the weather for your dates, message us before you travel. We will tell you what it is like on the hill that week.
