From check-in to the first cup of chai on the balcony, here is how a relaxed first evening with us usually unfolds.
Most guests arrive in the afternoon after a long drive. The first few hours set the tone for the whole trip, so here is what we suggest.
Settle in first
Drop your bags, open the balcony doors and let the room air out. The hills cool down quickly after sunset, so this is the best window to enjoy the breeze. If you need an extra blanket or pillow, ask the front desk now rather than at midnight.
Catch the light change
Around sunset the building’s outline lights switch on, and the whole facade glows against the dark hillside. Step out to the road-side viewpoint in front of the gate for the best look back at the hotel. It is the photo almost every guest ends up taking.
A simple dinner in
If you are staying in a Family Suite, the fully equipped kitchen means you can cook a simple meal the way you like it. Groups can use our dedicated group kitchen, which is set up for large families, pilgrims and tour groups.
An early night, an early morning
Mornings are the quietest time on the hill. Set an alarm a little before sunrise, take your tea out to the balcony and watch the mist lift off the valley. You will not regret it.
Tip: keep a light jacket handy even in summer. Evenings on the hill can be cooler than you expect.
